Sequence of Courses

 

All required English classes at Community High School provide an integrated approach to instruction in reading and the interpretation of literature, writing (including grammar and usage), speaking and listening, and critical thinking. Teachers organize integrated units of instruction around significant themes which are suggested by the literature.

Main Themes:

Exploring and celebrating differences among people; examining the nature, causes, and effects of prejudice and intolerance.


Main Themes:

Interpreting mythology and the romance of the hero; tracing patterns of growth into maturity and understanding


Main Themes:

Defining American values and what it means to be an American; investigating the concept of the "American Dream"; investigating America's cultural diversity.
