This is my political profile. Why you're
reading this is beyond me. I've moved around a lot over the course
of my life, but each time, we didn't move very far. I've lived
in Wheaton (all over the place) , West Chicago, and Carol Stream.
I enjoy playing and creating video games, listening to and writing
music, writing crappy stories, and being around people I like.
I always interpret peoples' actions
usually with incorrect
results. I don't have much to say here
..
I'm Democratic. Yes. Democracy is good. Democrats believe in freedom,
and that people should be able to make their own decisions. They
also believe in a weak central government. I agree with both of
those ideas entirely. The government shouldn't be able to dictate
our lives by any means. Freedom is probably the most important,
if not the only important, thing I stand for. Republicans don't
like freedom as much as they do order. Very boring
..
I enjoy indifference. On a great many issues, I believe that whatever
people feel like doing is fine. This makes me much more of a Democrat
than you'd think it would. Should abortion be legal? Sure, if
someone wants to have an abortion, that's fine. Should media be
censored? No, people can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't
cause huge riots of angry people to come and destroy my house.
I really don't care about anything enough to fight for it. Except
for two things: freedom, and preserving the environment. These
two ideas are very important to me, and I don't want a government
in which either is not important. I believe that I should be able
to do what I want to do, when I want to do it, as long as it doesn't
hurt anyone. I believe in social mobility, and I believe in freedom
of speech and religion. Concerning environmental protection, I
believe that a recycling program is essential. I believe forest
preserves are vital. I believe the environment is the most important
thing in the world, because it is indeed the word itself. That's
about it, really. Pretty Democratic
yes. I'm gonna stop
saying "I believe" now. It makes me sound stupid.
I were born in March 24, 1983 in Mexico City, about my travel
experience I went to Chiapas, Cancun, San Diego and then Chicago,
my hobbies are play soccer, car racing, go to the movies and swimming,
my interests are just having a good time and my expectations for
the future are going to the College and study auto mechanics then
find a good job about it.
I'm Democratic. I choose Democratic because in the issues that
we were talking I was more in the left side. I think that Democrats
looking for help to poor people, Democrats believe in freedom,
Democrats want that everybody has the same right to life, I believe
in graduate tax I think that it's the best way for all of us.
One of the issue than I really support is Prisons Rehabilitation
because is better to help the prisoners so if they go out of jail
they won't be the same persons that they use to be. Another issue
that I support is that the government should not interfere with
the free market economy because it prevents competition and the
ability for a person to succeed in the United States.
At the age of 2, my pain in the butt sister,
Kirsten, was born. My family lived in Hanover Park until I was
5. We then decided to move to Carol Stream where we currently
reside. I also have another sister who is 9 years younger than
myself, Haley, and a Cocker Spaniel named Dudley who is 10. This
past summer my family and I journeyed to Cozumel, the Caymen Islands,
Las Vegas, and for the seventeenth consecutive year, Florida.
As for what I am interested in, I would have to say I enjoy gymnastics
(13 years experience) and diving (just 2 years but still a love
of mine). I hope to become a high school English teacher after
college. I will be attending Illinois State University in the
fall and can't wait for college life.
If I have not stressed it enough so far, I am a democrat. I believe
in graduated income tax. Those who are rich should pay higher
taxes because they are more able than the not so rich. In cases
such as the market place, the government should enforce minimum
wage. There will always be someone out there who is willing to
be paid a little less as long as it means they are being paid
and sometimes that amount is unacceptable. Monitoring work environment
conditions is a must; people should feel safe and secure at their
work place. Major societal decisions should not be left to a specialized
group of people to take into their own hands; everyone should
have a say in what goes on. I also believe the federal government,
not the state, should create laws to abide by.
There is one view I do agree with totally on the right side: Abortion.
I believe it is completely wrong to kill a defenseless creature,
especially a human. Anyway, I also disagree with the death penalty.
It is barbaric and should be abolished. My issue group has to
do with cyberliberties. I strongly feel that it should be up to
the individual who feels the Internet should be censored to censor
their screen. On the Internet or anywhere else, free speech should
be maintained. Our country was founded on a belief of freedom.
If we don't have that, what do we have?
I was born on September 12th 1983 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. I live in Carol Stream with my family, my parents, Richard and Debra, and my little sister Mallorie. I love to dance and have been dancing for most of my life. I have been in Dance Production for the past two years here at the high school. I also love to spend time with my family and friends they are the most important things in my life! I have a boyfriend who I love very much and he goes to Northern Illinois University and is studying Engineering. After graduation I plan on attending the College of Dupage. I am going to be studying to become a nurse because I love to help people and make them feel better. Right now I am looking into radiology.
I Michelle am a Democrat, but however I can see some views on the Republican side. For example, I believe that abortion is wrong except in the cases where the mother has been raped or if it is incest. Also if birthing the baby could set the mother up to be in a great deal of danger. Also I believe that if you work hard and have gone to school for an education then the money you earn at your job should primarily be yours. The Government needs to take more responsibility and help out a little bit more. As far as taxes go we need to come up with a better plan so that everyone paying in is being treated fair and getting what they deserve. Yes everyone needs a little help sometime but I don't think that it should be my hard earned money paying to send someone else's kids in another town to another school. I do realize that this sounds selfish but I am sorry. I do believe as well that we need to toughen up our prison systems just a smidge.
Finally, one issue that matters to me a
great deal would have to be harsher punishment towards criminals
in other words Prison Reform. I am a strong believer that "if
you do the crime, then you should do the time." What goes
around comes around and I believe that our laws today are not
strict enough and they all need to stay consistent with in at
least our country. This should be totally obvious due to the fact
that our prisons are overflowing with innocent people as well
as hard criminals who deserve to die. I believe that the Death
Penalty should always be an option and from now on the punishment
should fit the crimes that are committed. Enough is Enough!!!
I was born on August 23,1984 in Downers Grove. I am the oldest of four girls. My parents are very different, my mom is a rich girl who's daddy got her everything, and my dad was a poor country boy. Together and divorced my parents have always been closer to wealthier side, mostly due to my mother's success. I moved to West Chicago from Downers Grove in first grade, to which I went to Turner. In fourth grade I went to Wagner. In seventh grade I went to West Chicago Middle School and in eighth grade I moved to Winfield and went there for school. I have now gone to West Chicago High for the last four years. I love to travel and have been everywhere in the U.S. and too Canada and Mexico. I plan on bringing my love for travel to my career with travel nursing and photography in third world countries.
I am a moderate democrat to say the least. I truly would like to say that I am even between both democrat and republic but I can't. I am a very strong pro-choice person in every issue. I believe that our country is all about having that right to choose. But I also believe that the minute you take someone else's rights away you loose all of your rights. I am very much for the death penalty. I am against prayers in school and any blurring of the lines of the separation of church and state. When it come to the marketplace though I am for minimum wages and I am for unions. But when it comes to distribution of wealth I am for every man for himself. You earn your money for you not to help the people who don't have jobs. So as you can see I am split in the middle but in the long run I believe I am leaning towards the democrat side.
The issues that I feel most strongly about would have to be pro-capital punishment and pro-choice. These two are both on opposite sides of the political spectrum but they are the two that I feel most strongly about. First with capital punishment, I feel that once someone takes away someone's rights, they themselves should loose there rights. I think that once you take away someone's life you yourself should not have the right to eat, sleep, or even breath. If you consciously made it so that someone else could not do these things, then neither should you. Now with abortion, I believe that it is the women's choice to do with her body as she pleases. I don't believe that an embryo is human until it can eat, move, and mainly breathe by himself. And if the woman doesn't want the baby no protester is truly going to stop her from getting rid of it. I personally would like her to be able to make that decision on her own. I also want her to be able to get an abortion in a clean and healthy environment instead of some basement.
ALLISON R.
- DEMOCRAT
My name is Allison and I was born in Hinsdale, IL on March 17.
I grew up in Glendale Heights but I have lived in West Chicago
for almost 6 years. I enjoy traveling. Every summer I go to Florida
and Wisconsin. Last year I went to Spain with lots of people from
this school. It was a lot of fun. I have been on the Pom Squad
for 3 years and captain for 2 of those years. I also have been
in Dance Production. I work at a gymnastics club but only 4 hours
a week. I need another job. Next year I will be attending the
University of Illinois at U-C and studying Dietetics.
I have declared myself on the left side. There are many reasons
for this. I agree with almost everything on the left side. One
of the only issues I disagree with is affirmative action. I think
quotas are just reverse discrimination. I believe that the death
penalty is wrong. I think that those who agree with the death
penalty are essentially murderers themselves. I strongly believe
in the separation of church and state. I don't think anyone has
the right to inflict their religious beliefs onto others if they
aren't at a private school. That goes against a person's constitutional
rights. I am pro-choice and I also am for the graduated tax. I
do not believe in censorship. I feel that it violates the 1st
Amendment, freedom of speech.
One issue that I feel strongly about is that of abortion. I am
COMPLETELY pro-choice. I do not think that the government has
any right to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body.
I also believe that homosexuals should have the same rights and
freedoms that the everyday person has. They are not aliens and
should be treated the same way we treat everyone else. I am in
support of the graduated tax. The rich people can pay more in
taxes because they can afford to. I also think that there should
be stricter laws on gun control. I don't think that people should
be allowed to carry them anyplace that they want to.
I was born September 6, 1983 in Central DuPage Hospital. I grew up in West Chicago with my three younger brothers. Life with them can sometimes become annoying but in general we manage to get along fairly well. My hobbies include reading (and sometimes writing) fantasy and science fiction stories, collecting Anime (Japanese cartoons), and camping.
I have declared myself a Democrat. The main reasoning I had behind this decision was that while I have some strong Republican beliefs, in general I believe that people need to have their rights protected and their rights come before all else. Some of my Republican beliefs include the abolishment of affirmative action and through that the reduction of government interference in business. However, I feel that graduated tax is the way to go with federal taxes. I am also pro-choice which was one of my strongest reasons for declaring myself a Democrat. Another democratic view I support is foreign policies. And, although I support the abolishment of affirmative action, I like a strong central government over stronger state governments.
Although I personally am pro-life, my beliefs
towards the rights of other people make me politically pro-choice.
I don't believe that I have the right to force my moral beliefs
on such a controversial issue onto other people. I will never
have to decide whether or not I personally will have an abortion
so I believe it removes me even further from being able to force
my views onto others.
Affirmative action has outlived it's usefulness. Now it hinders
as much as it helps and I feel that in some cases it is the cause
of reverse discrimination towards 'white' people. This is a part
of the government not regulating every aspect of business. The
market should be able to thrive on its own without the government
stepping in to decide what nationality has more right to a job.
A person should get their position based on their skills and qualifications,
not their race
I support graduated tax all the way. The wealthy have benefited
from the economic environment that the United States government
has created and now they can afford to pay a little more in taxes.
I don't think that the difference between the percentages that
the rich and the poor pay need to be overly drastic, but I do
think the rich can afford to pay a few more percentage points.
My name is Erika D. I was born at Central
DuPage Hospital, and I am currently 18 years old. My parents both
are from Germany, and I have been there when I was young, but
I can't remember much of the experience. I have also been to New
Orleans, Louisiana this summer. I love listening to rock, punk,
alternative, and other types of music. I also like to watch movies
and t.v. In the future, I hope to become an electronic technologist,
get married and have children.
I am a democrat. Although I have had some issues that I leaned
toward the right on, majority of my decisions favored the democratic
side. I strongly believe in graduated tax over flat tax. If you
could afford to pay more, then you should in order to make our
government better. I also am strongly for equal school funding.
What if a child in a poorer school has better potential to do
something big than I do, but he is prevented because of being
in a poorer school? Statistics have also proven that the money
you pay for other kids through equal school funding is millions
less than you would have to pay for a high school dropout, which
is what a person from a poor school is more likely to do. Although
I am a religious person, I don't believe in prayers in the school
setting. I strictly believe in keeping school and church separate
in order to not bring any of those who are not practicing a religion
in offense.
I also am pro-choice. I believe the choice is up to the woman.
What if something may go wrong to her or the child? What if she
was raped? However, I do really hope that women really think it
through before they do choose to have an abortion, and only if
need be. I strongly disagree with censorship. I believe that it
is your choice if you want to hear it, see it, or whatever, and
if you don't like it no one is forcing you to. I also am in the
issue group for cyberliberties, which I totally agree with because
free speech is a right of ours. If we have free speech vocally,
why can't we do the same written on the internet?
I was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on September 16, 1984. I have lived in many different places including Bensenville, Elmhurst, and Carol Stream, all of which are in Illinois. I have also lived in New Jersey for a majority of my life. I have had the opportunity to travel to a lot of different places, including Canada and England.
My political affiliation is that I am a democrat. I am mainly split between the two parties, republican and democrat. However, I have found that I have more beliefs that correspond to the Democratic Party. I believe strongly in rights of privacy and individuality. I also think that there should be a graduated tax rather than a flat tax. On the other hand, I do not think that we should have affirmative action, and that puts me on the right side more than on the left. In general, I have mixed feelings about many issues and I am able to see both sides. It has seemed, however, that I am more of a democrat than I am a republican, and so I have declared myself to be a democrat.
Issues that I feel strongly about include
privacy and a graduated tax. I am against having a national ID
system because I think that it would cause more problems than
do any good. I also think that a graduated tax is best and we
should keep it as our system. Another issue I feel strongly about
is affirmative action. I think that we should abolish affirmative
action because I think that it takes away the equality that we
are supposed to have, even though with affirmative action in place
it is supposed to make things more equal.
1. I was born at Dupage hospital of December 13th, 1983. Even though my parents are not the most adventurous people in the world, I've basically been to the corners of North America. Florida, Texas, Bahamas, Canada, California, and around the Midwest, oh yeah, Niagara in New York. The California trip I learned a lot as well as some University and tennis trips that I made on my own.
2. I'm basically far left in nearly every way. I believe that people deserve chances to get back on their feet and in creating many more productive citizens through this "Spread" and raising the standard of living. These programs that put that in motion are where the majority of my political beliefs stem from, the rights of citizens are the top priority to me, I feel this is what our country has thrived through. I think conservation is wrong because it is a system that hurts freedoms in favor of constricting rights. By helping the less fortunate we create a larger number of productive members of society, and spreading the gap between the upper and lower classes will put the majority of the wealth is the hands of the few and there is more room for error, to hurt the majority.
3. I am pro-choice because in my beliefs
in freedoms I try to protect the mothers of our country, rape
victims, and the possibility of mothers trying other means to
abort, the fact that adoptions and abandonment. Against the death
penalty because I believe innocent people do go to jail and are
put to death, it is a fact actually, and I believe those people's
rights are more important than getting a revenge that may already
be served through life sentences. Separation of church and state
is one of the most important foundations of our country to me
because I do not believe on forcing certain beliefs on other citizens,
even if my religion may be in the majority. Graduated tax is the
most important I would say because I like the system as it is
now and am truly afraid of what would happen spreading the wealth
of the nation that much. Through time I feel this would eliminate
the middle class, and only a few individuals having the wealth
is also a fear of mine, like the collapse of Enron hurting thousands.
I was born July 28, 1984 in Elgin, Illinois.
I was raised in Michoacan, Mexico. I was schooled there till I
was six years old then I was brought back to the United States
and made English my second language. I went to Lincoln school,
in West Chicago, my kindergarten to 1st grade, then I moved to
North Aurora where I attended Bardwell Elementary school my second
grade year. I later moved back to West Chicago and went to Lincoln
Elementary School my third and fourth grades. While moving back
and forth through West Chicago I finally settled down and went
to Gary School my 5th to 6th grades. I attended WCCHS all my four
years. Besides the moving from West Chicago and Aurora, I have
traveled to Mexico several times to visit my grandparents. I like
to read, listen to music, go out dancing, and play basketball
whenever I can. After High School I plan on going to either a
2-year college or the air force. After that I plan on attending
NIU, although I am no certain about my major I would enjoy to
get into a field that is related to criminology.
I am a moderate democrat and I strongly believe that the government
helps regulate and put this country in order and I think that
it should be involved in many things. I think that the government
should set restrictions on businesses. I'm all for minimum wage
and think that we need it to keep our economy up and running,
because if we don't have a minimum wage, or we have a low minimum
wage, employees would get a low pay. Therefore, since the employees
will be paid less, they won't have, as much money to spend on
the market and businesses won't make as much money, possibly causing
them to fail. I'm also against capital punishment. I believe that
capital punishment is just the easy way out. I believe it isn't
a punishment rather a way for them to get away from the problems
in the real world and away from the misery of prison life. I think
that their punishment is prison and having to sit there everyday
and think about what they did, be forced to work hard, get harassed
and beat up; not death. I strongly believe that the federal government
should be the one to deal with society's problems. Like gun control,
I don't think that the state governments should try to regulate
their own rules for it, but the federal government should because
it is a problem that affects everyone in the U.S.
My views tend to fall on the liberal side of the spectrum. I am
all for repealing the second amendment because guns are a major
contribution to the already high death rate in America. People
should have the right to express themselves in any way they feel
necessary as long as it doesn't put anyone else in danger. For
example, flag burning should be legalized, as it is a legitimate
form of protest. The main argument against flag burning is that
veterans have fought many wars to protect what the flag stands
for. These veterans are fighting for the flag, which stands for
freedom, and yet they are trying to take away the freedom to protest;
the very thing they have been fighting for. There needs to be
a strict separation between churches and state if there is going
to be any unbiased teaching. The tax system (marginal) we are
currently under is working just fine. By having a flat tax, the
government is still taking in the same revenue but the tax breaks
go to the rich. If the government still takes in the same amount
of money and the rich have to pay less, then the rest of the money
has to be paid for by the lower and middle classes.
My name is Michael S. I was born in Elmhurst,
Illinois. I usually spend my summer vacations in Choumont Bay,
New York. One of my many hobbies is designing tattoos. I enjoy
a good challenge. I plan on going into the Army once I graduate.
While I am in, I will learn to be a Construction Engineer.
I am proud to announce my affiliation with the Democratic side
of the Political Spectrum. I knew I was a Democrat before I joined
this Government class. I believe in a graduated tax rate (democratic).
I have a very strong belief in freedom of choice; each individual
should have there own choices and beliefs, and the Government
should not interfere with those beliefs. I believe everyone should
have a voice and every voice should be heard. I believe in the
death penalty. I believe the government should regulate businesses
and make sure the businesses aren't ripping us off. I believe
people should have the right to there privacy. I am against affirmative
action (if you live in America, you are an American, and America
means randomness when it comes to races). These are only a few
of my beliefs. Some may be republican but for the most part, I
am a strong democrat.
1. I'm an out going guy that has respect for people that respect me. I'm pretty laid back but when things get tense I do to. I was born in Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield. I went to Florida and Las Vegas on a plane and I take trips to Wisconsin and Kentucky about 5 times a year. I play Baseball for the West Chicago High School and I play just sports in general. I also collect Baseball cards. I have interest in girls, family, and friends. I want to be playing in the M.L.B. after high school.
2. I am a full-blooded Democrat. I think that people should share the wealth because if we don't do this then we won't have a healthy economy. A way to spread the wealth is to make taxes graduated rather then flat. If we went flat are economy will die except the rich and we don't want that so we should go graduated and make everyone pay different amount of taxes. I think that the government should be helping the society grow in a healthy way. The government has a big part in society. I don't think that we would have all the nice things in are environments if it wasn't for are government who donates all the money to the society. I think that the federal government should have more power but the state backing them up real close because I think that the federal government does a better job to keep are economy going healthy. As I said before I am a full-blooded Democrat and I will stand in this position forever.
3. I'm going to talk a little about crime
and abortion because these are my concerns in society. I think
that crime is horrible obviously but I think that we should get
more cops out there to keep us safe. I think that if we did this
we would feel safer but the cops need to be out in the streets
at all times not concerned with speeding tickets all the time.
Abortion is a big part in society because it kills innocent people.
I think abortion should be eliminated because I don't agree with
it at all. The only way I agree with it is if a girl/ woman gets
raped but other then that I 'm disgusted with abortion.
1. In March of 1984 I was born. I have lived
in my West Chicago house my whole life. The Central dupage Hospital
is the place of birth for me. In my life I have traveled to Florida
twice and to North Dakota only once. In my spare time I like to
play soccer, wrestle, and run in track. Cars and women are my
interests other than my friends and what is going on in the world.
In the future I expect to become a physiatrist or a car mechanic.
I feel I would be a good physiatrist because I am a good listener
and can help people with there problems. I am also good with my
hands , that is why I think I would be a good mechanic.
2. In my views of the political spectrum I see myself as a democrat.
I believe that the government should work for the people. If there
is a problem the people are have the government should do something
to fix it. As my views on abortion, I believe that the women having
the baby has the choice where or not to kill the baby before and
after it is born. The wealth of the U.S. should be distributed
evenly among the people. When the wealth is distributed evenly
we will allow people the opportunity to live a better life. I
believe that all humans have the same unalienable rights in the
U.S.
3. Issues that concern me are the ones like
gun control. There should be stricter gun control. The guns of
America should only be used in protecting your household when
it is being broken into. The guns should not be carried around
with people. When they do that the chances of a person being shot
for almost any reason may occur. Censorship is another, censorship
of movies and shows is unneeded. If a show or movie has explicit
language then it is there for a reason and should be heard. Swears
and nudity on T.V. helps bring emotion into them.
I was born in Geneva Illinois in 1984,3,30. I have lived I West Chicago my whole life. I like to travel to different state to see what are country looks like. My hobbies are to skate board, go to races, go paint balling. I have a big interest in car. I go to TCD in the afternoon for auto technology. My expectations for the future are I am going to the Marines. I chose this for a great education to b an automotive or air plain mechanic industry
I am on the left side (democrat). I am a democrat because my views are the same as the democrats. The democrats care about every body rights. I don't agree on most of the republicans. I am pro-choice because a mother should be able to make up her own mind. I also think that censorship should not be legal. I believe in free expression. I also believe that a prisoner should sit in jail and suffer their consequences.
I believe in pro-choice. I think that it
is the mother's choice if she wants the child or not. I believe
this, because what if the mother was raped she didn't have that
choice. She was raped and she got pregnant. I also think that
censorship should be illegal because it should be up to the parents
to decide what their kids watch on T.V. and not up to the government.
I also believe in the freedom of speech. People do have the right
to say what they want to say with out being told differently.
I also strongly believe that a criminal should do their time and
sit in jail and think about what they have done. I also believe
that they should not be able to get out with good behavior.
I am Diego Alfaro a.k.a. Sketch, born at St. Charles's Delnor Community Hospital in 1984, and raised for seventeen years in West Chicago. I've seen Mexico about every two years since I was around five years old, that's pretty much all the traveling I've done. My hobbies include but are not limited to: taking photographs, shooting pool and cruising around. My interests are entertainment and making money, for right now and in the future.
I think I'm a Democrat. I'm not so sure about politics, they're not for me, say what you will but I really don't care about much in this field of study (for right now at least). I can say though that I'm probably very near the center of the Political Spectrum, while still on the left side. The reason for this is obviously because I am able to see both sides of an argument/bill proposal but be persuaded by the left side. Some proposals I side with that are on the left side would be stricter gun control, graduated taxes, and affirmative action.
Some of the issues that most interest me
would be one, the issue of abortion, I'm pro-life but could see
why in some instances a woman may want to have an abortion. One
of the reasons would be rape and another would be incest. I could
see those sides to the issue of abortion and see those valid to
having one. On the other hand though, why should abortions result
from careless sex? If the two people aren't ready to have kids,
to accept a "mistake", then why get into having sex?
I also don't really believe in censorship, both because I'm an
artist and because censorship denies rights which should be guaranteed
to everyone.
My name is Jamila Moore. I'm a senior at West Chicago High School. I'm also in a few different choirs in church and school, and enjoy drama, writing, singing and dancing. I was born in down town Chicago and was adopted. My expectations on the future are unsure at the moment.
Issues such as Abortion, which is a issue I feel completely strong about. And think that it is killing a innocent child. It's the same as murder and I will never understand how people will accept it. Or other ideas like keeping the death penalty which I completely agree with. Shows that I am libaral on most things and republican . I believe certain rights are not needed in order to protect and keep people safe as a hole. I also believe that people are to worried about their rights to think practical on certain issues and that is how I know I am republican.
A huge issue that is very important to me
is affirmative action. And I often find myself in the middle of
it. Trying to decide which side is right wrong I have finally
come to the conclusion that it can be seen both ways. Yes it is
just a backwards way of discrimination. But minorities as a hole
along with women are not at all equal in any aspects with perhaps
the acceptation of sports as the majority. And yes it makes sense
because they are the majority they should be more populated. At
the same time when it comes to the point where there are 20 or
30 white people in a class and only 1 black person and 4 Asians
one would have to start wondering rather its really just because
they are the minority. Affirmative action is another way to make
things equal for all races.

Personal Profile
My name is Laurie Nicole L. I was born in Carbondale, IL, May
24, 1983. I lived there for 2 years and then moved here to West
Chicago. I have lived here the rest of my life. I love to travel.
I have been to almost every state in the US. I plan on traveling
the world during and after college. I love to act. I have been
in a number of plays at my church and school. I also love kids.
I baby-sit whenever I can. That is why I am going into teaching.
I want to teach kids so that I can make a difference in their
lives. I plan on going to Judson College after high school and
getting my Bachelors degree in elementary education and minoring
in interior design.
Party Affiliation
I am a Republican. There are many issues I that put me more towards
the right side, but some put me towards the left side. I agree
with the death penalty and flat tax. I am pro-life. I oppose affirmative
action, school funding I oppose the National ID program, I oppose
School Vouchers, and I support gun control. Those are the only
Democratic views I agree with.
Issues
Abortion should not be allowed unless in the case of incest. Abortion
is murder, it is a live human being in the mothers womb. If you
take away that child's life you are a murderer. Another issue
I am very passionate about is flat tax. People should be able
to keep the money that they make and not have to spend it on other
people. I am also concerned with crime. Our government should
take action and crack down on crime and drugs. Our country would
be a better place if there was less crime and drugs. Welfare,
there should be a limit on who and when people can get welfare.
There should be limitations on it. We need to control our society.
I was born in Winfield Illinois at Central DuPage Hospital. I have traveled to about 60% of the states in the U.S. I like to play volleyball outside of school. I play volleyball for both school and club. My main interest in school is English. In the future I want to go to Northern Illinois University and play volleyball. After college I want to go to Wisconsin and become a high school counselor.
I am against the equal school funding. I wouldn't want to pay for some other kid to go to a high quality school when I could be paying for my own kid to be in a higher quality school. I am also against school vouchers. I feel flat tax is the best way to pay the government taxes. If people make a lot of money then they should not have to pay for the less fortunate. I think the people of a state's government should have the right to make the main big decisions. I think the Miranda rule should be relaxed, and I think affirmative action should be eliminated from society. Both the Miranda rule and affirmative action are a big waste of time. No one listens to their rights when they are read and why allow one fine student over another just because of race. I think gun control should be used in society. Having the gun licensed and registered should be a law.
I think in order to stop crime and violence
in the society gun control should be brought into action. People
who have criminal records should not be allowed to own a gun.
People without criminal records should be able to own a registered
gun. The poverty level in society is really high. I think the
people who work really hard to make their money should not have
to pay for other people's house, school, food, etc
. If a
family lives in a bad neighborhood with poor schooling for their
children then they should move to a different environment and
get a well paying job to support their own family. My views on
abortion stand on the opposite side of the political spectrum.
I am pro-choice which makes me a democrat in that matter. The
mother should have the right to do whatever she wants to do. The
environment should be one of the first priorities of the society.
The environment is the place the people live in so I feel something
needs to be done to clean the environment.
I was born in 1983 I was born as an October baby, actually to
be exact it was October 9, 1983 when I was brought into this world
at Central Dupage Hospital. In my life most of the traveling that
I have done has been west since that is were most of my family
lives. In my free time I spend playing sports like football, wrestling,
baseball, and every once in a while a pick up game of basketball.
I also enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, and anything to do with
the outdoors. I also enjoy music, working on my car and hanging
out with my friends. In the near future I plan on going to college
to further my learning and education.
Over the coarse of the semester in government I have come to learn
that I am a republican. I share many of the same beliefs that
are associated with the Republican Party such as abortion I am
pro life. I also feel that a flat tax is the best for the whole
country so that everyone contributes the same amount of percentage
towards the government. I don't feel that school vouchers are
a solution to the education problem and the democrats feel that
is a great idea so I am once again on the side of the republicans.
Some issues that I feel should be addressed in the semester and
government are the following abolish abortion, I feel that everyone
has the right to come into this world no matter what happens except
for rape and incest. The right to live is everyone's right and
if we are killing off our future generations we might be possibly
killing the next Albert Einstein or Ben Franklin. A flat tax is
really the only fair way to tax people because people need to
all contribute the same amount to the government. Its also punishing
the rich for being successful in life and for using the resources
that have been provided to them. All that school vouchers are
going to do is over populate schools and under populate others
since kids aren't going to pick bad schools to go to so those
schools will go out of business and have to close down. While
other schools we be over populated I think that school vouchers
are a horrible idea and shouldn't even be proposed as a bill.
My name is Christina R. I was born at Central
Dupage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. I have been too many places.
The places I have been are Ohio, Idaho Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado,
California, and Florida, Indiana Michigan, and so many others
place in the United States. My hobbies are traveling, fishing,
hiking, and swimming, camping biking, even skating. The thing
I like doing best is dancing. In the future I word like to become
a elementary teacher, teaching either kindergarten or first grade.
Well coming from a not so wealthy family I feel that the wealthy
could pay for a little more. I also feel that as a shopper that
prices in the market place are too high. I feel that we should
get more profit. My opinion on the government in society is that
they should be more involved in society's problems. I think we
should distribution power.
I am a Republican but I lean toward the
middle because I can see both sides on certain issues. I believe
that teens should be tried as adults. The teenagers these days
need to be punished for what they have done. If you kill someone
than you should go to jail because you should know what the consequences
are. These kids are teens are learning bad things from the movies
they watch. Now kids that are thirteen or younger are going to
movies that are for their eyes not to see. This is where the teens
are getting their ideas.
I was born August 25, 1984 at Central DuPage Hospital in Wheaton, Illinois. I played football in high school for three years, and did wrestling for three years. I like to listen to heavy metal music. Currently employed at Menards, but not for long. I like to play video games and watch the Simpson's on my free time, which is pretty much all day long. For the future I plan to go to Westwood collage and get my bachelors degree in graphic design and computer animation. Then find a good paying job after that.
I see my self in the right side of the political spectrum making me a republican because I believe in many of the views that the republicans have for instance I believe in pro-life. I think that we should have harsher punishment for criminals. I don't like the fact that the rich must be punished for been wealthy and have to pay more on tax because they were successful in what they did. I do have a few views that I agree with the democrats, one example is I don't believe in censorship. I think we have a right to express ourselves any way we can.
I think that we need harsher punishment
for prisoners because they are there to pay for their crime. There
are not their to learn or to be taught anything new. This is supposed
to reduce crime. Prison is suppose to have them think twice before
they commit another crime when they get released, and having a
prison be more of a rehab isn't much of a punishment it's like
a slap on the wrist. They will never learn their lesson this way.
NICK C. (REPUBLICAN)
My name is Nick. I was born in Winfield, Illinois on October 11,
1983. I did live there for about eight and a half years, but I
have moved all around this area quite a bit. I have lived in Warrenville
twice, Lisle, Winfield, and now West Chicago. I haven't done a
whole lot of traveling outside of this area in my life though.
I have been to Arizona many times, California, Florida, and the
Bahamas. My hobbies mostly revolve around sports. I love playing
baseball. I play for the schools team. I have been playing since
I was about three years old. I also had played basketball most
of my life, but I gave it up after my sophomore year to concentrate
on baseball. My other hobbies include just hanging out with my
friends, watching movies, and some of the time just relaxing at
home. Next year I plan to attend Milwaukee School of Engineering.
While I am there I will continue to play baseball. After this
I will hopefully get a good job somewhere in the mechanical engineering
field.
I have declared myself on the right side of the spectrum as a
republican. I feel this way because on about 90% of the issues
that we had studied in class I had supported the views of the
right side of the spectrum. For example I agree with the flat
tax. I think that if the person works hard to find a high paying
job then they should be entitled to keep their money and not have
33% of it taken in taxes. I feel that a person should be able
to keep their money and not necessarily have to share it with
others unless they see fit.
The issues that I am most concerned with are affirmative action,
flat tax, and the distribution of wealth. I feel that we should
abolish affirmative action. I see it as reverse discrimination.
I feel that in applying for a job or college that the most qualified
person should always get the position. I would be very upset if
I lost a position to another person that I was more qualified
than solely based on the race of that person. Everyone is talking
about equality but there is no equality in this scenario whatsoever.
Another issue is about the flat tax rate. I feel that each person
should be taxed at an equal rate. To me it comes down to equality
again. Graduated tax is not an equal way to impose taxes. When
one person is paying 33% of their income to taxes and another
is only paying 8 or 10% it is not equal at all. I think that the
whole idea of graduated tax is stupid because I see it as almost
a punishment for making a lot of money. If you make large amounts
of money than you get taxed at a higher rate. That makes no sense
to me at all. The only way to make taxes equal is to use the flat
tax rate because everyone is taxed at the same rate.
I am a seven-teen year old Puerto-Rican
who was born and grew up on the West Side of Chicago IL. I love
to travel and to see new things. When I was thirteen I went on
a missions trip with my church youth group. We traveled to South
America, specifically Belize and Guatemala. I plan in the future
to travel extensively to other countries and be a singing/preaching
missionary. My hobbies are singing and almost anything that has
to do with theater. I'm dedicated and devoted to the Lord and
my church.
Personal History
I was born on October 15, 1983 in Winfield at Central Dupage Hospital.
As I grew older, many different and interesting things occurred
in my life. I was overwhelmed with two other siblings and all
that they bring, I experienced places other than Illinois, I learned
what things I liked (sports-softball, drawing, etc.) and what
I didn't like (playing music, other miscellaneous acts, etc.)
and I became to know who I am. Today, I know where I stand on
many things that I didn't know in the past and I continue to learn
new things everyday.
Party Affiliation
I officially proclaim myself a Republican. I believe that I am
a Republican due to many issues that I believe in and that the
Republican's support. I believe in the death penalty and that
the criminals should be punished for their harsh crimes (it is
called capital punishment). I too believe in prison reform and
think that prisoners should be disciplined harsher for their acts
if being in prison. Other issues that I relate with on the republican
side are flat tax and for abortion to be abolished. I believe
that we should have equal tax payments so it is fair to all an
as abortion goes I am pro-life and believe strongly that no one
should kill an innocent child as abortion demonstrates. All of
these issues relate to my opinions as well as the Republican side
and I am very proud to support that.
Issues
Today in society there are many issues that impact us daily. Some
of the main issues in society that are faced today are life or
death issues. There are several issues that matter to me. However
the main issues that I am concerned with are abortion and the
death penalty. These two issues hit me at the heart and hard.
When it comes to these two issues, I am pro-life and I am for
the death penalty. I am pro life for many reasons. However the
main reason is because you are killing an innocent child. I don't
see how any human being can stand for that. In my mind there is
no choice to be made. You already made the choice of having sex
so now you must deal with that and give life to another human
being. If you have an abortion not only are you killing an innocent
child but also you are taking away an opportunity for couples
who cant have children to raise one and to give it a very good
life. There are so many ways out of having an abortion. You could
have the child and keep it or even give it up for adoption. Many
say that the women should have a choice in what she does or it
is their right to have an abortion. However, women already do
have rights but they do not have the right to kill an innocent
person yet alone a child that is breathing inside of you! My opinion
is very strong on this issue and nothing will change it. The other
issue that I am concerned a lot with too is the death penalty.
I believe that if the crime was bad enough that the criminal must
pay for his actions and suffer the appropriate consequences. Why
not? You do the crime you pay the time as the saying goes, however
I believe that the time should be sent in sentencing the death
penalty and putting one to death. Prison now of days is like a
playhouse. Prisoners have too many rights that they shouldn't.
They have the right to learn, do activities and other forms of
recreation. How could anyone allow one to participate in acts
of fun after they acted in a cruel manner and one that is defiantly
not acceptable to society? Shouldn't they feel guilty for what
they did? They took an innocent life away and did it because of
why? Reasons are unknown all the time why people are killed but
that's doesn't stop the judge or jury to sentence them to life
in prison, why not? The criminal chose to kill while the victim
didn't choose to die, now is that fair? Isn't our society based
on being fair, no discrimination, and all for equality, how is
that possible when it happens every single day? The death penalty
is a strong issue in my mind and it must be dealt with. These
issues I just voiced impact others and myself daily. I do feel
for other issues however these ones mean the most to me due to
the fact that someone's life is at stake.
1. My name is Rebekah Boyd and I am 18 years
old. I was born in New Mexico, however, I only lived there for
a short term while my mom completed her masters in medicine. I
then moved to Illinois with my parents. I have a strong background
in the south. My dad was born in New Orleans and then raised his
whole life in Mississippi. I visit there very often and I love
it. Currently I am employed at a day care center where I work
after school from 2:45 until 6:oo. This job does not fit me very
well because I really don't like kids and do not want to have
any when I am older. My future expectations are well rounded and
extensive. I plan to attend Western Illinois University in the
fall of 2002 and major in political science. After receiving my
bachelors I want to attend DePaul Law school downtown Chicago.
I then wish to go into practice as a litigator for either the
entertainment or criminal fields of law. In the future I see myself
living in California as a successful lawyer.
2. I have officially declared myself as a republican. I believe
most of the things that republicans do and I am passionate about
those beliefs. I am pro-life, I think that every baby as the right
to live and no one should have the ability to legally and without
ramification take that right away. I also very strongly believe
in the death penalty, some people who commit crimes are a waste
of time and money and are better off dead then alive. I do not
see the death penalty as a form of murder, I think that is a punishment
given out justly to deserving criminals. I also am of the belief
that a flat tax would be much more feasible and fair to people
who earn money. To me it is unfair and uncouth to expect those
people who earn more money than some to have to pay a large amount
of their money to taxes. People who earn more money should not
be punished by paying $33,ooo in taxes (in some cases). It is
a punishment and it is wrong. On the focus of affirmative action
I am opposed. In the eyes of many people, trying to stop discrimination
of the minorities is causing discrimination towards the majority.
Everyone should be given the all the same rights, these rights
should not be based on color or ethnicity. What you get and are
provided with such as jobs and acceptance to schools should be
based on your ability to do a good job and your qualifications.
These beliefs put me predominately on the right side of the spectrum.
3. I personally think that today in society there are a lot of
problems ethically and morally. Due to issues that come up and
are actively discussed citizens compromise their morals and ethics.
Our society has lost the value of life. A baby is alive and human
and we find excuses to have abortions (which is what they are)
we are killing these children and taking away the meaning of life.
We put so much time and energy into the rights of criminals and
wrongdoers. We find reasons to provide them with a defense and
to get them out of jail time for serious crimes. Where has our
moral obligation to determining the difference between right and
wrong gone?
SHYQERIJE
K. (REPUBLICAN)
My name is Shyqerije K. and I was born in IL at a hospital in
Aurora. I have been to many places. I have been to Switzerland,
Germany, and Belgium. I have also been to Austria, Slovenia, and
Washington DC. I love to play basketball because it gives me a
good exercise and I am very competitive. I also like to play pool.
I am very interested in film because that is what I am going to
major in. I have decided to do this now because it is a challenge.
This is what I am studying at the Technology Center of DuPage.
I expect myself to be the best that I can and to learn from my
mistakes when I do something wrong at work. I also expect myself
to be the best mother so my kids can grow up to be good children
that listen.
I am a Republican but I lean toward the middle because I can see
both sides on certain issues. I believe that teens should be tried
as adults. The teenagers these days need to be punished for what
they have done. If you kill someone than you should go to jail
because you should know what the consequences are. These kids
are teens are learning bad things from the movies they watch.
Now kids that are thirteen or younger are going to movies that
are for their eyes not to see. This is where the teens are getting
their ideas. It is also the parent's fault because they let their
kids watch these kinds of movies or TV shows. One other thing
is that I support school vouchers because the schools that are
loosing their money are loosing their kids also. We need to take
charge and be in support of this. These kids deserve to have an
education to. How are we going to get good jobs if we are not
going to school?
I believe that I think abortion should be
supported or not. I can see both sides on this issue. I believe
that it should be that person's choice to have the baby or not.
It is not you and you should except that. Another thing is that
I believe that these woman or even teens should not get an abortion.
I believe this because if you don't want the child then gives
him or her up for adoption. The families that can't have babies
can adopt the child. The school vouchers will provide kids with
a new education that will teach them a a lot of new things. We
should not let these kids suffer from not having a good education
to get a good job.We are always saying we want America to be the
best. We should do this by helping the kids first.
